WHAT MY NEUROLINES CLASSES ARE LIKE

My NeuroLines classes are centered around a drawing process I’ve been doing most of my life. We start with simple lines, both outer shapes and inner movement and build from there. It’s slow, intentional, and surprisingly powerful. You’ll learn how to layer with outer and inner lines using different pen sizes and styles, creating work that’s entirely your own.

This will not a be a fully structured art class and it is not a traditional process of creating.

You don’t need any art experience. Just show up with a little patience, an open mind, able to take instruction, and the willingness to explore something that might surprise you while quieting your mind and body.

Here’s what you’ll walk away with:

    •    A NeuroLines piece in progress that you can keep building on after class.

    •    A drawing process you can easily transport and return to when you need to feel grounded.

    •    A new way of approaching art without all the pressure or perfection as a traditional art workshop.

All supplies are provided, including pens, surface paper, and a board to work on.

INSTRUCTOR & ARTIST BIO

Nichole Montgomery is a Tulsa-based multi-mixed media storyteller and NeuroLines instructor and artist, known for intricate, emotionally layered works that blend personal history, symbolism, and intuitive mark-making. Originally from the Mount Hood wilderness above Estacada, Oregon, Nichole began creating neuro-based linework at age six during her first experience with childhood trauma. What began as a quiet survival instinct grew into a lifelong visual language that continues to ground her as she approaches 50.

Outside her NeuroLines process, Nichole normally combines photography, digital elements, collage, assemblage, print making, multi-mixed medias and obsessive line work to most of her creations. Each piece gradually unfolds like a visual narrative combining memory and generational instinct. Over time, her once-sharp lines have softened, reflecting a steady movement toward inner balance and healing.

A U.S. Army veteran who served in the late ’90s, Nichole creates from past and present life experiences shaped by challenge, transition, and endurance. In 2023, she was named one of the inaugural Oklahoma Visionary Artists by Steve Liggett and Pam Hodges through Liggett Studio, OVAC and many grants. Since 2025, she has maintained a private studio space behind the Contemporary Arts of Tulsa gallery and is a proud member of the Liggett studios as a part time photographer and videographer. Nichole and this large group of collective Tulsa-based creatives and volunteers are committed to pushing the boundaries of contemporary art.

In her workshops, Nichole offers a doodling process free from pressure and very little structure, while rich in personal meaning.
